+ Period Delay

What is it?

At times it may be inconvenient to have your period, for instance if you are planning a holiday, wedding, or special event.

How we can help

If you think that your period will come at an inconvenient time, we may be able to prescribe medication for you which will delay your period until timing is better. The medication we prescribe is a man-made version of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone. Alternatively, if you already take a contraceptive pill, we can advise you on how to take it so that your period will be delayed.

+ Contraception

If you are sexually active and don't want to fall pregnant, contraception is essential.

How we can help

We can help you identify the best contraception for you, and issue it for you online. Or if you need a refill on your regular contraception pill, we can do that for you too.

+ Emergency Contraception

What is it?

Emergency contraception, or the "morning-after pill," can help prevent a pregnancy after unprotected sex.

How we can help

If you have had unprotected sex, including a broken condom, we can issue you with fast and effective hormonal emergency contraception, and also give advice about preventing future pregnancies.

If you are not sure of your partner's STI status, you may also be interested in STI testing since anyone who has had unprotected sex could become infected with an STI without any symptoms. If you would be interested in starting reliable contraception, we can also offer that online.

+ Female Facial Hair

What is it?

Female facial hair is defined by thicker and darker hairs occurring on the upper lip or chin. It can also present as on the chest, back, buttocks, upper inner thighs, or around the nipples. It is often caused by a hormone imbalance.

Many women who have facial hair will also have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), particularly if periods are irregular. PCOS may be important to diagnose because it is associated with decreased fertility and certain other diseases (such as diabetes).

How we can help

We can investigate the cause of your female facial hair by offering blood tests for male hormones, and if indicated, refer for other tests such as an ovarian ultrasound to investigate PCOS. We may also be able to offer medication which can help get rid of unwanted hair.

+ Thrush (Yeast Infection)

What is it?

Thrush is an overgrowth of yeast in the vagina. It causes itching, irritation, and abnormal discharge. It may cause pain on urinating or having sex. Thrush is not considered an STI, but partners can pass it back and forth sexually.

How we can help

If you think you have thrush, we may be able to offer medication that can cure the problem.
