Low Mood (depression)
What is depression?
Everyone feels down from time to time, but depression is an illness with persistently low mood, hopelessness and a loss of interest in activities that were pleasurable. Depression may also take the form of physical symptoms, such as changes in appetite or sleep disturbances (sleeping too much, or problems staying or falling asleep).
How we can help
If you think you might be depressed, we may be able to offer a diagnosis online and discuss treatment options that we can offer, such as medication or access to online cognitive behavioural therapy or mindfulness practice. Although it may feel as though things will never get better, you should know that depression is usually a very treatable illness.
We can only treat non-emergency conditions. If you think that you are in danger of harming yourself or others, we advise that you seek immediate medical attention from your GP or A&E.
